Artistic Director of the competition is multi-award-winning theatre and opera director Jossi Wieler, internationally renowned as an innovator of music theatre. The Board of Directors is completed by Ulrich Lenz (Intendant Oper Graz), Andrea Vilter (Intendant Schauspielhaus Graz), Michael Schilhan (Intendant Next Liberty), Wolfgang Hülbig (Managing Director, art + event | Theaterservice Graz), and Georg Schulz (Rector of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz)
Founder and long-time Intendant of the RING AWARD, Heinz Weyringer, has become its Honorary President.
The first stage of the competition, the submission of the production conceptions, will now take place exclusively online in order to do justice to the current working reality of directing teams.
The prestigious main prize RING AWARD, which comprises a production commission at Oper Graz, and the popular Audience Award are now joined by a Sustainability Award, sponsored by art + event | Theaterservice Graz, a Dramaturgy Award, sponsored by Schauspielhaus Graz and Oper Graz, and the Special Prize of Honorary President Heinz Weyringer.
