Die Farbe des Wassers
Holger Mueller-Brandes, the first Ring Award winner 1997 set "The Color of Water" by Bernd Gieseking in the theater in Minden on stage. The play's content is Franz Boas´ Arctic expedition in 1883 on 23 Premiered in October 2010. The premiere was on the 23. October 2010.

In September the Ring Award Jury faced the challenge of deciding on which of the 63 participating teams (6 of them for ring.award.off) should move on into the semifinals.

The overall number of individuals participating in the competition was 131. In line with earlier trends, female participants clearly outnumbered male participants: 81 females joined 50 males. The fact that the participants come from 17 different nations affirms the international character of this competition.

The first hot phase of Ring Award 11 is over. In the meantime the Ring Award Jury has decided which teams entry into the semifinals. Within the beginning of the next week the semifinalist teams will be announced.

The Ring Award
More than ten years ago, in 1997, the Wager Forum Graz developed the idea of organizing a three- step competition in the field of the musical theatre, but a competition which, different from most others in the field, would not concentrate on the musical side of works but focus on stage direction and stage design. From the outset it has been the most distinctive feature of the Ring Award that, at the finals, actual performances take place on a large stage and that, accordingly, not only conceptions are submitted for assessment, but contestants are judged by their capacity for producing live realizations of their conceptions.
The hot Phase
The Ring Award is a competition following three-steps. The hot phase just started. The overall number of individuals participating in the competition is 131. The fact that the participants come from 17 different nations affirms the international character, the versatility and uniqueness of this competition. In this first phase the Ring Award Jury faces the challenge of deciding on which of the 63 participating teams (6 of them for ring.award.off) should move on into the semifinals. on the 14 th and 15 th of January 2011 it´s halftime. The final, the third phase, takes place from the 24 th to the 26 th of June 2011 and chooses the winners.
The Bite of the Bat
The challenge of the Ring Award 11 is to stage Johann Strauss Sohn´s operetta “The Bite of the Bat”. It is a difficult assignment of tasks but also a great chance for the participants to show how to bring the genre operetta innovative and exciting on stage nowadays.

The Ring Award Jury has three new top-class members.: Bernd Loebe, Intendant Oper Frankfurt „Opernhaus des Jahres 2010“, Peter de Caluwe, Director „La Monnaie“ in Brussels and Katharina Wagner, Director of the Bayreuth Festival.

The Ring Award 11, International Competition for Stage Direction and Design in Graz started its first phase. The overall number of individuals participating in the competition is 131. The fact that the participants come from 17 different nations affirms the international character, the versatility and uniqueness of this competition. In the first “hot” phase top-class Jury decides on which of the 63 participating teams (6 of them for ring.award.off) should move on into the semifinals.

Walküre in Frankfurt
At the moment everyone is talking about the Ring Award 2000 finalist Vera Nemirova who set Alban Berg´s “Lulu” on stage at the Salzburg Festival. At the end of October 2010 she celebrates the premiere of Richard Wagner´s “Walküre” at the Frankfurt Opera.
